The channel fastens into the fascia board wherever the roof allows, and every penetration is sealed as it is made. That is the whole answer, and it is also the thing that separates a good install from a callback. Soffit lighting.

What a correct install looks like

  • Fasteners into fascia, on a spacing that suits the board
  • Every penetration sealed at the time it is made, not afterwards
  • Terminations capped, not taped

What causes damage

An unsealed penetration, over-driving fasteners into soft or rotten fascia, and skipping sealant on a cold day because it is slow. All three are shortcuts, and all three are why the crew who measures a house is the crew who fits it.
